One of the founders of the direction of romanticism in the world of music, Franz Peter Schubert was born in 1797 on January 31 in a suburb of Vienna. The composer's family was very large: 14 children (5 of whom survived), his father was a parish school teacher and his mother was a locksmith's daughter. Franz began to develop his musical abilities at an early age, and he was helped in this by his father, who taught Franz the basics of playing the violin, and his older brother Ignaz, who specialized in piano music.

At the age of seven he began to study organ music and singing with the conductor of the church. Thanks to his strong voice, the boy was taken to the court chapel at the age of 11. Then he was taught by the famous masters of musical art Wenzel Ruzicka, and Antonio Salieri taught him counterpoint and composition. At the Konvikte boarding school, Schubert was the second violin in the orchestra, he studied the musical works of Haydn and Mozart. Franz Schubert began to show his talent as a composer in 1810. Then he wrote his first piano pieces, songs, as well as his first opera and symphony. However, when Franz's voice broke, he was expelled from the choir. Then the composer went to work in the same school where his father taught, and in non-working hours he composed music, improved his performance technique, studying Gluck, Beethoven, Mozart. In 1814, his first works appeared: the Mass in F major and the opera "Satan's Castle".

However, recognition and fame were in no hurry to come to the composer: the publishers did not want to publish his work, and Schubert himself was not accepted for the post of Kapellmeister of the church. The musician's position improved after meeting with Franz von Schober, who later introduced Schubert to Johann Vogl. It was Vogel who popularized Schubert's music, thanks to his baritone. Johann performed in salons and sang to the composer's music. Real fame and recognition came to Franz Schubert thanks to his opera "The Forest Tsar", which he wrote in 1816. Two years later, he published two more songs, finished his work at school and moved to Count Esterhazy, where he wrote music for his daughters. In the last years of his life, Schubert lived in Vienna, where he gave his only concert, published many piano works, plays, songs. November 19, 1828 when Franz Schubert was only 32 years old, he died of typhoid fever. He was buried in the Central Vienna Cemetery. During his short life, the composer still managed to write more than 600 songs, 9 symphonies, 21 sonatas, 10 operas, 6 masses, 25 chamber instrumental works in a wide variety of genres, and an asteroid (Rosamund) was even named after one of his works.
