Paul Michael Gross (born April 30, 1959) is a Canadian actor, producer, director, singer, and writer born in Calgary, Alberta. Best known for his portrayal of Benton Fraser in the television series "Hard to the South", as well as the 2008 film "Paschendal". In the final season of Strict South, in addition to playing the lead role, Gross served as executive producer and wrote the script for the first three episodes and the finale. He also performed several songs that were included in the soundtrack for the series. He later found success, starring in another Canadian TV series, "Slings and Arrows."
Gross studied acting at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, but dropped out in his third year. He returned later to complete his education for his degree. He has appeared in several stage productions such as Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet.
