Born 1 August 1918, Lodz - German entrepreneur and producer. After graduating from school in Lodz, in 1936, together with a group of young Zionists, he left for the Middle East, where he participated in the filming of two documentaries. Until the outbreak of World War II, he studied at the Polytechnic School in Lodz. Together with his family, he fled from Poland to the Soviet Union. Brauner's parents subsequently emigrated to Israel, and he himself moved to West Germany and started producing films, founding the Central Cinema Compagnie.
in Berlin. The theme of the persecution of Jews in the Third Reich became the main theme for the films produced by Brauner. Brauner's first film was called Tell the Truth. Despite the support of the Soviet military authorities, Brauner's second film, Morituri, was unsuccessful, since no one in Germany was interested in the fate of the Jews persecuted by the Nazis at that time. This prompted Brauner to tackle in the following years tapes of entertainment content that suited the tastes of the public, competing with the constantly outstripping former subordinate Horst Wendlandt. Wendtlandt stole the rights to film Westerns based on the works of Karl May and the books of Edgar Wallace from Brauner. Browner was forced to settle for scripts based on the works of Edgar Wallace's son Brian Edgar and the oriental novels of Karl May. With the advent of New German Cinema in the 1970s, Brauner was not going through his best times. He concentrated on the production of films dealing with the theme of National Socialism. The protagonists of his films were Jews persecuted under the Nazis (Charlotte, Love in Germany, Europe, Europe). Browner has produced nearly five hundred films, including television, and won two Golden Globes. He was also awarded an Oscar as a co-producer .
In 1999, Brauner opened the Hollywood Media Hotel Berlin on the Kurfurstendamm.
