Mikhail Khodorkovsky received two higher educations, was engaged in entrepreneurial activity, became the chairman of the board of Bank Menatep, the owner of the Yukos company. He married, from his first marriage a son Pavel was born, from the second - a daughter Anastasia and twins Ilya and Gleb.

In 1994, Khodorkovsky initiated the creation of a lyceum for orphans in Korallovo (Moscow region). After his arrest in 2003, Maria Filippovna will devote herself to this educational institution and the cause of Mikhail's release. She will await her son's pardon and, being terminally ill, will die in 2014. They will bury her in Korallovo.
