Zoya Vasilkova, who may also be known to the viewer under the name Chekulaeva, was born in the city of Leningrad in 1926. The fate of Zoya Nikolaevna is very different from the life of other girls of that time - so, at the age of 17, she goes to the front as a volunteer: in the midst of hostilities, the girl was wounded and shell-shocked. At the end of the war, he entered the VGIK, and then played on the stage of the Actor's Studio Theater. The artist travels a lot with the theater troupe, and not only around the Union, but also far beyond its borders, having visited Poland, the GDR and even China.
It was possible to watch Zoya Vasilkova in the cinema already in 1956, her debut took place in the dramatic film Journey to Youth by Vladimir Krainichenko and Grigory Lipshits. During her fifty-year career, the actress has played more than eighty different roles, mainly, she got the characters of a secondary plan - from ladies to simple girls. The bright Russian character, which Vasilkov could brilliantly portray, attracted the most eminent directors of the Union to cooperate with her.
