The first-born Igor Yakovlevich Krutoy was born on July 29, 1954 in an ordinary family in the Kirovograd region in the town of Gaivoron. Since childhood, the child gravitated towards music, played well the button accordion, accompanying the school choir. While studying at school, he was able to create a popular ensemble at that time and played at discos. In order to continue to study music after graduation, Igor graduated from the piano class and was enrolled in 1970 at the Kirovograd School of Music, from which he graduated with honors. For a whole year he taught the art of playing the button accordion in a neighboring village, and then applied to the Music and Pedagogical Institute in Nikolaev to become a conductor. The dream of becoming a professional composer came true much later in 1986. Igor Krutoy entered the conservatory at the composer's faculty in Saratov, but did not receive a diploma, leaving his studies.

In 1979 Igor comes to Leningrad and on the third date proposes to his future wife Lena. Not finding a decent job, the young Krutoy family moved to Moscow, where he got a job in the Panorama orchestra, and in 1981 he moved to the Tolkunova collective and became the leader of her ensemble. Soon he divorced, already having a son, Nikolai. For a long time Igor Yakovlevich was invisible to the sophisticated Moscow audience, until in 1987 Serov performed his song Madonna. After this significant event, the composer was celebrated at the Song of the Year festival. From that moment on, the affairs of the future People's Artist of Russia (1996) went uphill. In 1989, Krutoy tried himself as a producer. The ARS production center created by him was engaged in various directions in show business and was very successful. Now Igor Krutoy is a celebrity.
