Born in 1949, he studied cinematography with Thomas Mauch, Werner Herzog's permanent cinematographer. Since 1983, Klausmann has directed countless films and television films. For his work in “Head against the Wall” he received the German Film Academy Award for Best Cinematography. One of his most recent works is the Oscar-nominated film The Baader-Meinhof Complex (directed by Uli Edel). With special pleasure the operator solved the problem of “musical” filming of “Soul Kitchen”: “The camera is constantly in motion, in each scene we tried to convey the intensity of what was happening.”
