Russian theater and film director, screenwriter, actor, editor, producer. Honored Artist of Russia (2009). Was born on March 17, 1957 in Leningrad. In 1982 he graduated from LGITMiK (workshop of A. Musil). In 1981-1987, Astrakhan worked as a director, chief director of the Sverdlovsk Youth Theater, then in 1987-1990 he staged performances on the stages of the Bolshoi Drama Theater, the Leningrad Youth Theater, the Komissarzhevskaya Leningrad Theater, the Omsk Youth Theater, in Bulgaria. Fame in theatrical circles brought him the play "The Brave Good Man - the Pride of the West" (play by J. M. Sing). In 1991-1995, artistic director of the St. Petersburg Comedy Theater. N.P. Akimova.
