American actor and screenwriter Thomas Mitchell comes from a poor family, where he was born on July 11, 1892. This happened in the small town of Elizabeth, in the state of New Jersey. His parents were immigrants from Ireland. After successfully completing high school, Thomas decided that, like his father, he would work as a reporter for a local newspaper.
