The future Honored Artist of the RSFSR was born on January 18, 1936 in the city of Leningrad. Her father, Leonid Dmitrievich Zabotkin, worked as an engineer and died in 1942 in Leningrad during the blockade. The artist's mother was nee von Loewernstein, the daughter of a state councilor. She managed to survive the blockade, and after the war she worked at the Museum of Ethnography in Leningrad.

Olga Zabotkina studied at the ballet school. Vaganova and in 1953 became a permanent member of the troupe of the Leningrad Theater named after I. Kirov, now it bears the name of the Mariinsky Theater. Olga was a characteristic dancer, bright, she was very good at national dances. In 1965, the ballerina married S.V. Krasavin, he played the bassoon in the same theater. Their union lasted only five years and ended in divorce in 1970. In 1980, the artist again married Ivanov A.A., a parodist poet and future host of the program Around Laughter. To support her husband and help him build a career, Olga Zabotkina throws not only the stage, but also the cinema.

The first film with Olga Zabotkina, which was released on the screens of Soviet cinemas - Two Captains, directed by Vladimir Vengerov. The role of Katya Tatarinova became for the actress her debut and the most outstanding in her short filmography. In the same year, Friedrich Ermler invited Olga to play the role of student Nadia in the melodrama Unfinished Story. In 1956, the star of Soviet cinema starred in the concert film Concert of Leningrad Stage and Theater Artists. In 1957, viewers were able to see their favorite actress again in the role of Maritana in the film story Don Cesar de Bazan. In 1960 Olga Zabotina received the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In 1962 she played the tour guide Lida Baburova. The last film with Olga Zabotkina was released in 1964, she played the role of the queen in the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty.

The last years of her life, the star of Soviet cinema and ballet was often ill and spent alone, as she explained to friends her voluntary seclusion: “I don’t want to be seen like this.” Olga Zabotkina died in 2001 in Moscow, but according to her will, the artist's ashes rest at the Smolensk cemetery in St. Petersburg.
