The future Honored Artist of the RSFSR was born on January 18, 1936 in the city of Leningrad. Her father, Leonid Dmitrievich Zabotkin, worked as an engineer and died in 1942 in Leningrad during the blockade. The artist's mother was nee von Loewernstein, the daughter of a state councilor. She managed to survive the blockade, and after the war she worked at the Museum of Ethnography in Leningrad.
Olga Zabotkina studied at the ballet school. Vaganova and in 1953 became a permanent member of the troupe of the Leningrad Theater named after I. In 1962 she played the tour guide Lida Baburova. The last film with Olga Zabotkina was released in 1964, she played the role of the queen in the fairy tale Sleeping Beauty.
The last years of her life, the star of Soviet cinema and ballet was often ill and spent alone, as she explained to friends her voluntary seclusion: “I don’t want to be seen like this.” Olga Zabotkina died in 2001 in Moscow, but according to her will, the artist's ashes rest at the Smolensk cemetery in St. Petersburg.
