After graduating from the Kherson real school in 1919, he volunteered for the Red Army. Since 1921 he was a cadet of a military electric school, from which in 1924 he was expelled "as an intellectual". 1925-1931 works in Ukrainian and Russian drama troupes, and since 1931 - in Kharkov musical comedy. In the Sverdlovsk Musical Comedy Theater he played in 1936-1967.
