Helmut Berger - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips.

Helmut Steinberger was born a year before the end of World War II in the small Austrian resort town of Bad Ischl. Before the appearance of Helmut, there were no actors in the family, the family was engaged in the hotel business. But the future star of the Doom of the Gods was not interested in the family business. Although, out of respect for his parents, he received a specialized education, but at the age of 18 he moved to London, where he began to take acting lessons, while working as a waiter. Studying foreign languages, young Helmut moved to study in the Italian town of Perugia, and soon to Rome, where he met a man who became the most significant in the fate of Berger. His name was Luchino Visconti.

This renowned director became Berger's "other half" for many years, and in every sense. Half of the novice actor's surname fell away, and for the stage euphony, the "stone dweller" became just a "dweller". To begin with, Helmut Berger starred in a cameo role in the film The Burnt Witch, then in a small role in the film The Witch, and then glory came. The role of Martin von Essenbeck, not burdened by the moral principles of the heir to the owner of a metallurgical concern, brought Berger worldwide fame and a Golden Globe nomination for Best New Actor. The scene where Helmut in a woman's dress parodies the performance of Marlene Dietrich in the Nazi-banned film Blue Angel became the best, according to critics, and the hero played by Helmut became "the role of the year."

Proposals to act in films poured in, as if from a cornucopia, and many famous directors invited him to their films. Massimo Dallamani starred him in his version of The Portrait of Dorian Gray, Vittorio de Sica in the Finzi-Contini Garden, Tinto Brass in the Kitty Salon, but the best films starring Helmut Berger will forever remain those where the director was "more than a teacher." ... Films Ludwig, Family Portrait in the Interior and, of course, Death of the Gods are classics of world cinema. In 1976, Luchino Visconti dies, which led our hero into a deep depression, and on the anniversary of his death, Hellmuth even made an attempt to commit suicide, fortunately unsuccessful. However, the career began to decline. No, he starred a lot, and in high-quality projects (for example, in the popular TV series Dynasty, as well as in F. Coppola's Godfather-3), but all these roles were inferior to the images created by the great classic Luchino Visconti. But our hero does not remain forgotten even now. The last film with Helmut Berger to hit the big screens in 2014 is Yves Saint Laurent. Style is me directed by Bertrand Bonello, where Helmut embodied in the image of an already aged great couturier. It is noteworthy that in one of the scenes Saint Laurent performed by Berger watches the Death of the Gods. What he was thinking about while watching, we will probably never know, and if we do, we will not understand. Only nostalgically let us say a phrase from A. Pakhmutova's wonderful song: "How young we were, how sincerely we loved."

Helmut Berger has green eyes, naturally blond hair, fair skin and medium lips. The shape of the face is oval, the forehead is high, the hair is curly thick. Helmut Berger does not change hair color, preferring natural hair. The actor has a medium straight nose and a pointed chin. The actor's height is 184cm, no tattoos.

Zodiac sign - Gemini (05/29/1944)
