1942-2008 - American rhythm and blues musician, composer, producer, arranger and actor. Hayes's most famous musical work is on Stax Records - Isaac was one of the driving forces behind the label. Hayes's most famous album is the classic soul album Hot Buttered Soul. On this record, Hayes moved away from the traditional album structure of three-minute songs; there are only 4 tracks on the disc - two cover versions of traditional pop songs and two original tracks. The songs on the album are 5 to 18 minutes long. Hayes' other major success was the soundtrack for The Shaft, for which he received an Oscar and a Grammy. In addition, the album peaked at number one on the Billboard charts three times .
Hayes's most famous acting work was his voice acting as the character of the Chief in the animated series "South Park". Hayes participated in the project from the very beginning - with the pilot episode "Cartman and the Anal Probe" (1997), but left the series after the episode "Stuck in the closet" (2005), which ridiculed Scientology - Hayes was a Scientologist and commented his departure with the words that the creators of the series have ceased to be tolerant.
Hayes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Hayes suffered his first stroke in early 2006. On August 10, 2008, relatives found him unconscious near his home; soon the singer was taken to the hospital, where an hour later the fact of death was recorded. Stroke was also named cause of death. Isaac Hayes has 12 children, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He married his fourth wife, Adyova, on April 10, 2006. One of Isaac's sons bears his name - Isaac Hayes III, a music producer.
