Born February 23, 1948 in Leningrad.
In 1970 he graduated from the Leningrad Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography (course of R. Agamirzyan).
In 1970 he was invited to the troupe of the V.F. Komissarzhevskaya. In 1974 he moved to the Leningrad Maly Drama Theater. Since 1980 he has been an actor at the Bolshoi Drama Theater. The first role on the stage of the BDT was as an officer of the enemy troops in the play "Optimistic Tragedy".
Since 1988 - teacher at LGITMiK.
Honored Artist of Russia (02/12/1994) .
Alexander Ivanovich passed away on December 6, 2005 in St. Petersburg after a serious and prolonged illness. The actor was buried on December 12 at the Northern Cemetery (Eastern section, row 9, place 1).
