The famous writer, historian, translator and scientist Boris Akunin (aka Grigory Chkhartishvili) was born in 1956 in Georgia. Two years later, the family moved to Moscow. The boy's father was a military man, his mother was a teacher of Russian literature. After graduating from high school, Akunin continued his studies at the Faculty of Foreign Philology of Moscow State University, where he perfectly mastered Japanese and English.
After graduating from the university, Boris worked for a long time as a writer and translator. He began writing prose shortly before leaving "IL". The pseudonym of the writer "Akunin" was borrowed from the Japanese language, literally it means - an outstanding figure who took the side of evil. Grigory also had other variants of the literary name, for example, such as Anna Borisova and Tolik Brusnikin. It is noteworthy that Chkhartishvili signs criticism and documentary works with his real name.
The long-awaited success in the field of literature brought him a series of short stories and novels called "The New Detective" (where the protagonist Erast Fandorin investigates intricate crimes and unusual incidents occurring mainly between the 19th and 20th centuries).
