Born February 24, 1921 in New York, the son of Lena (nee Moses) and Samuel Vigoda, Jewish immigrants from Russia. Abe's father was a tailor and his brother, Bill Wigoda, was a comic book artist.
Vigoda was married to Beatrice Shchi from February 25, 1968 until her death on April 30, 1992. From this marriage, Abe has his only daughter, Carol, and three grandchildren, Jamie, Paulie and Stephen.
