December 30, 1907 - October 24, 1984 - Soviet composer.
In 1925 he entered the State College of Cinematography (future VGIK), but a year later he transferred to the Music College named after V. brothers Rubinstein. Then he continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatory, which he graduated in 1936 with a degree in composer and was assigned to the Tashkent Conservatory as a teacher. Two years later (1938) he became a teacher at the Kharkov Conservatory. Along with his academic education, he was fond of jazz music and wrote several songs for Leonid Utyosov and Nadezhda Kazantseva. During the war years he went to the front with author's concerts. From 1945 to 1950 Lepin lived in Riga, worked for the Latvian Musical Theater. He is the author of the music for the National Anthem of the Latvian SSR (poems by F. Rokpelnis and J. Vanaga, 1945). "Song of Moscow" from the film "Hello, Moscow!" (1946) ("The street met us with noise") became the call sign of the Moscow radio. Since 1950 he lived in Moscow at the address: Ogareva, 13.
Songs from the films "We met somewhere", "A girl without an address" and "Carnival night" brought great popularity to Lepin. At the end of his life, he began a cycle of romances dedicated to the famous works of painting: "Girl with Peaches", "La Gioconda", etc., but did not manage to complete it.
