Irina Pechernikova was born on September 2, 1945 in Grozny. Her parents met each other when they studied at the Geophysical Faculty of Leningrad University. Then fate threw them to Checheno-Ingushetia, from where they moved with three children (son and two daughters) to Moscow.
Irina Pechernikova graduated from school with honors and, on the advice of her teacher in the drama circle of Ekaterina Alekseevna Sokolova, was going to enter the Moscow Art Theater School.
Graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School (1966). Since 1966 - an actress of the theater. Lenin Komsomol, since 1968 - Academic theater named after Vl. Mayakovsky, in 1978-1990 - the academic Maly Theater.
Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1988).
