Since 1956 - in the Komsomol and party work. In 1976-1982. - Chairman of the State Committee for Cinematography of the Latvian SSR, 1982-1995. - General Director of the All-Union Association (Film Company) "Sovexportfilm", until 1991 - a member of the Board of the USSR State Cinema Committee.
