Vladimir Etush was born on May 6, 1922, but the official birth certificate is dated 1923. In those difficult times, boys were often registered a year after birth. They said: "he will not go to the army as a kid."

However, in the midst of the general lack of money at that time, even before the revolution, Vladimir's father was spinning well: he headed his own sewing studio and was considered a wealthy man with connections.

And the son grew up as a curious and active boy. There was enough of it everywhere. Even in his student years, Volodya participated in all evenings and attended the drama club. And after school he took lessons in theatrical art. In general, Etush Jr. dreamed of becoming a director, so he decided to try to get into GITIS. Vladimir failed his exams and almost said goodbye to his dreams. The dad of his girlfriend, director Ruben Simonov, came to the rescue, who helped to take the guy to the Shchukin school.

The student studied well - he rehearsed, played, improved, studied new images, tried on various characters. Thanks to his perseverance, he was hired to work at the Vakhtangov Theater. Many noticed Vladimir's unsurpassed talent, in the theater he was given many leading roles. Here he was considered the main actor. Unfortunately, everything was cut short with the outbreak of the war - Vladimir Etush quickly completed the courses of a military translator, and he was taken to the front. In the battle for the village of Zhovtnevoe (Ukraine) he was seriously wounded in 1943. From there, Etush was discharged with the second group of disabilities. These were undoubtedly difficult times. But Vladimir survived the battles, and this is the most important thing.

After the war, he began teaching at the Shchukin school (by the way, in 1987 he was entrusted with the post of rector at this educational institution), and also returned to the Vakhtangov Theater. By that time, everything was already back to normal. The cinema also began to wake up. So, in 1953, the actor will play his first cinematic role in the historical biography of Admiral Ushakov.

Over the next years, films will be released with the participation of Vladimir Etush Ovod (1955), Time of summer vacations (1956), Chairman (1964). After the tape, Chairman Etush will be awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR.

In 1966, our today's hero literally became a universal favorite, having accepted from Leonid Gaidai himself an offer to play in the Caucasian Captive, or Shurik's New Adventures. The actor's manner to perform unsurpassed character characters brought fame to Etush. The film has stood the test of time - it is still shown on television, the ratings have not fallen. But 50 years have passed!

Etush's charisma catches the viewer so much that the directors literally tear him to pieces, wanting to shoot Vladimir in their cinema. So, with his participation, the masterpieces of domestic cinema Solaris (1968), 12 chairs (1971), Shadow (1971), Affairs of Bygone Days (1972), The Incorrigible Liar (1973) and, of course, the fantastic adventure comedy Ivan Vasilyevich change his profession, appear (1973). All these works so captivated the audience that Vladimir Etush remained in their hearts forever, for which in 1984 he received the right to be called People's Artist of the USSR. And this was the pinnacle of success.

At the end of the eighties Etush devoted a lot of time to teaching at Shchukinka. His non-standard approach to teaching is still remembered by many students. They remember that sometimes they even kicked out of the audience for an unironed shirt. After all, an artist, according to him, must be neat.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, many famous artists ceased their activities. But Vladimir was always distinguished by a strong-willed character. He withstood the hurricane of the nineties and withstood the stage. Then he tested himself as an artist of the spoken genre, participating in various concerts. Meanwhile, new films with Vladimir Etush continue to delight the viewer: Classic (1998), the series Turn of the Key (1999), Soviet Period Park (2006), Pier (2011), Eye of God (2012).
