Victor Konstantinovich Chekmarev was born on January 30, 1911 in Astrakhan. Victor's father was an ordinary employee, and his mother was a housewife. From an early age, Viktor Chekmarev had a craving for public speaking, constantly portraying various characters at home, in front of his parents. This love later resulted in the constant attendance of drama circles at school.
In 1929, Victor graduated from school with honors, and then entered the Makhachkala Land Survey, Reclamation and Forestry College. Passion for the theater remained with him all this time and, while receiving higher education, Victor was a regular at local drama circles and a small part-time job at the Theater of Working Youth of Dagestan. In 1933 Victor Chekmarev moved to Moscow to devote all his free time to the development of acting. From 1933 to 1957 he worked in more than seven theaters, where he performed various characters. The roles of Viktor Chekmarev have always been extraordinary, because he approached each one with special trepidation. Often he was allowed to play negative characters, referring to a particularly vivid charisma that is inherent in insidious villains.
In 1957 he was invited to work at the Lenfilm studio, where he remained until the end of his days and worked on many films together with eminent directors. For 25 years of work at the studio, he starred in dozens of films. The last film with Viktor Chekmarev is called Secret Voting.
