Glykeriya Bogdanov-Chesnokova was born on May 13, 1904 in St. Petersburg. After receiving a general education, the future celebrity entered the Russian drama school in her hometown. Since 1924, for four years she performed on the stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater. After, until 1933, she was a member of the troupe of the Kharkov operetta. Then Bogdanova-Chesnokova moved to the Variety and Miniatures Theater and the Music Hall of Leningrad, where she worked until 1941. During the Second World War she was an actress of the front-line operetta ensemble. She often went to the front line; during the years of hostilities, Glykeria Vasilyevna took part in about three thousand performances. For her work, she was awarded with awards - combat medals and the Order of the Red Star.
After the end of the war, she began to play at the Leningrad Theater of Musical Comedy. The roles of Glyceria Bogdanova-Chesnokova had tremendous success, she became the star of Leningrad. In parallel with her work in the theater, Glyceria also starred in films. The debut of Bogdanova-Chesnokova took place back in 1931 - she played a small role in the film Start to Life. However, the episode with the actress was subsequently shortened. The first notable role of Glykeria was Maria Mikhailovna, mother of the heroine Olechka, from the comedy film Tiger Tamer.

Bogdanova-Chesnokova was awarded the title of Honored Artist, People's Artist of the RSFSR, two Orders of the Red Banner of Labor. Glyceria died on April 17, 1983. The grave of the actress is located on the territory of the Serafimovskoye cemetery in St. Petersburg.
