r and director Mikk Mikiver was born in Tallinn on September 4, 1937, but there is evidence that this happened on November 4 in the town of Loksa. Young Mikiver decided to devote his life to acting and with these intentions entered the Tallinn State Conservatory (theater faculty, performing arts department). Almost immediately after graduation, Mikk began working at the Tallinn Academic Theater. Later Mikiver moved to the Theater of Young Spectators in Estonia, but after 9 years of work in 1974, the academic theater returned as a director.
The roles of Mikk Mikiver were distinguished by sufficient variety and complexity of images, but did not go beyond the theater stage. Therefore, in parallel with the theater, Mikiver began to act in films. In addition, I already had a little experience behind my shoulders: shooting at the end of the period of study in the film In the rain and in the sun. Then there were works in the fantastic film Hotel U of the deceased climber, in the military-historical film Battle for Moscow, in such films as The Conjuring of the Valley of Serpents, Document R, Diamonds for the dictatorship of the proletariat, Entrance to the labyrinth and many others. These and other films with the participation of Mikk Mikiver received high marks from film critics and viewers, as evidenced by a considerable list of awards and titles: Honored and People's Artist of Estonia, People's Artist of the USSR, three-time winner of the award as the best director, State prizes of the USSR and Estonia for theatrical performances and for achievements and contributions in the field of theater, music and cinema. In addition to working in the theater and filming in films, Mikiver taught at the Tallinn Conservatory - the same one from the doors of which he entered the theater stage, and then the film set.
During his life Mikk Arnoldovich reached great heights not only on theatrical stubble. In 1989 he became the ambassador of the USSR, in the early 90s he was elected to the Estonian parliament, was a permanent member of the local Olympic Committee and a member of the Filmmakers Union. However, work in the theater was everything to him, and even a severe stroke in 2003 could not kill his love of work. Mikk Mikiver died on 9 January 2006 and is buried in Tallinn.
