Alexander Menaker was born on April 8, 1913 in the cultural center of the then Russian Empire - St. Petersburg. His parents were the well-known lawyer Semyon Isaakovich (Itskovich) Menaker and his wife Anna Iosifovna Menaker at that time. His father led an active social and political life, so there were always many guests in the house of young Alexander, most of whom were various artists. Even then, the boy began to show interest in the theater and tried not to miss a single premiere. He began his creative activity at school, having organized a noise orchestra. In addition, he admired jazz music and was carried away by musical feuilletons.
The future artist transferred his childhood hobbies into adulthood, enrolling in the acting department at the Bolshoi Drama Theater in 1929. Then he decided to change direction and became a student of the directing department of the Leningrad Institute of Performing Arts. During his studies, Alexander was active in pop activity.
From 1934 to 1936 he worked as an actor and director, collaborated with the Jazz Theater of the city of Kharkov as an artistic director. In the period from 1936 to 1938, Alexander Menaker played his roles in the Leningrad Music Hall.
In 1938, while touring with the State Variety and Miniature Theater, the actor met his future wife Maria Mironova, who was an actress of the same theater. From this marriage, the famous Soviet theater and film actor, the brilliant Andrei Mironov, was born.
In 1940, the couple began to work together, organizing their own theater, and after 1948 they began solo performances and took part in large-scale theatrical performances. Even a movie with Alexander Menaker is a continuation of his theatrical numbers. The actor died on March 6, 1982 from sudden cardiac arrest.
