Born May 2, 1927 in Moscow.
In 1951 he graduated from the directing department of VGIK, where he studied the art of cinema in the studio of Ilya Savchenko, then worked in newsreels, was the second director of Eldar Ryazanov on the set of his comedies "Carnival Night" (1956), "Give a book of complaints" (1964) and Beware of the Automobile (1966).
In 1960 Aleksey Korenev directed the film "Chernomorochka" at the Odessa Film Studio. The director gained fame with the TV serial Big Change, which brought together a brilliant acting ensemble, consisting of Mikhail Kononov, Lyudmila Kasatkina, Alexander Zbruev, Svetlana Kryuchkova, Yevgeny Leonov, Savely Kramarov, Rolan Bykovskaya, Anastasia Yanachinikova , Yuri Kuzmenkov, Natalia Gvozdikova. With this film, Alexey Korenev also made his debut as a screenwriter.
