Valentina Ivanovna Karavaeva was born on May 21, 1921 in the town of Vyshny Volochek. In 1940 she graduated from school at "Mosfilm", was a student of Julia Raizman. It was the teacher who first attracted the girl to the cinema - Valentina Karavaeva played the main role in the film Mashenka. The picture appeared on screens in 1943, after which all its participants and the film crew received the Stalin Prize, and the 21-year-old actress became the youngest laureate in history.
In 1944, a terrible event happened in the girl's life: on the way to the set, her car rammed a tram at full speed. The driver was killed, the actress was rescued, but she left a terrible scar on her face, which dashed her hopes for an outstanding film career. After that, the roles of Valentina Karavaeva were only episodic.
From 1944 to 1945 she performed on the stage of the Mossovet Theater until she married an Englishman. Together with her husband, Karavaeva leaves first for Switzerland, and later for Great Britain. In Geneva she founded her own theater, where she staged performances and performed herself. In 1950, she underwent unsuccessful plastic surgery, which led to a divorce from her husband. After the breakup, Valentina returns to the Soviet Union, where she performs at the theater of her hometown.
After wandering around several theaters, Karavaeva began to collaborate with the Gorky Film Studio. The main roles were still not given to her. The last time Karavaeva appeared on the screen in 1968, it was a picture of Love. Films with Valentina Karavaeva did not always find success, but even in such films, her name was sometimes not mentioned in the credits.
The actress spent the last years almost in poverty. The exact date of death is unknown: once a pipe burst in her house, and Valentina did not even leave the house, which very much worried the neighbors. Experts have established that Karavaeva roughly died on January 12, 1998.
