In 1991, together with his wife, actress Marina Shimanskaya, he moved to Spain to the city of Bilbao, worked in television. Teaches acting skills, puts on performances.
Since 2008 he has resumed work in Russian film projects.
From an interview with the City of Women magazine (January 2007): "I was born thanks to worldwide disasters. The Spanish Civil War, World War II ... if all this had not happened, my parents would not have met. It all began in 1937: the Basque people were so panicked by the bombing that the people rushed to steamers. My grandfather sent three daughters from Bilbao to Russia. Nobody imagined that World War II would begin and it would be impossible to return the children from Russia! And my father was growing up in Lithuania at that time, in 45 he was 16. My mother by 1944 she entered the Moscow Power Engineering Institute, and her father was sent to Moscow to study at the Higher Party School in 1949. Thus, two young future communists who firmly believed in the ideals of the party met in Moscow. There was such a terrible mix in me, because I got a Soviet upbringing, at the Shchukin school I received a portion of Russian culture and Russian theater. I was raised by my mother and we spoke Spanish at home. But I was born in Moscow, lived there for 30 years and consider myself a Muscovite. In the 56th year was the first large repatriation. Mother could not go, because by that time she was blacklisted - because of her work in the Central Committee of the party and on radio "Pyrenaika". After the death of General Franco, she began to travel to her homeland, but she had little to live. She died in Moscow. For me, Bilbao is a small homeland. Therefore, when I was offered a job for 3-4 years on Spanish television, a documentary series about the fate of Baku children in Russia, I agreed. "
