The legendary Soviet film actor Ivan Ryzhov was born in a small remote village of Zelenaya Sloboda, Moscow region. Like all rural children of that time, Vanya's childhood was rather difficult - peasant work required a lot of effort. But, working as a foreman on a collective farm, irrigating fields and harvesting crops, the boy thinks about something completely different - about the stage, performances and decorations.
At the first opportunity Ryzhov went to Moscow to try his luck and, to his own surprise, entered the school at the Moscow Theater of the Revolution. Upon completion of his studies, he remains to perform in the same theater, until 1940.
Five years later, it was already possible to watch Ivan Ryzhov in the famous Actor's Studio Theater, where he played for almost the rest of his life. As for the cinema, the artist made his debut on the big screen in 1939, playing a minor role in the film Kubans. After there were several more roles, however, despite the great theatrical success, the guy was not very much in demand as an actor. The directors noted that Ryzhov had some kind of indistinct image, and did not see their heroes in him. This went on for a long time, until, finally, Ivan Petrovich crossed the line of forty years of age, and the filmmakers accidentally discovered in him the image of a wise grandfather.
The later roles of Ivan Ryzhov were distinguished by a special role: basically, he appeared in the frame as an episodic character, but certainly - simple, kind and wise. For all that, on the set, the man did not use the services of make-up artists at all - his popular, open and completely non-actor's face did not require any additional correction.
So he continued to play - until very late old age, Ryzhov died in hospital at the age of 91.
