Born January 23, 1974, Lakewood, Colorado, USA - American director, cameraman and screenwriter.

Sienfrance began to take his first steps towards cinema at the age of 13, playing with a movie camera and shooting various short films.

After high school, he enters the University of Colorado, where he studies film under the direction of Stan Brackidge and Phil Solomon. His first short films immediately became winners of small festivals, including the Best Picture category. It was the end of the 90s. His Bound Brother (1998) is shown at the Sundance Independent Film Festival. There he is noted by many as an example of a high-quality debut indie movie. While directing films, Derek Sienfrance sometimes acts as a cameraman for "other people's" projects. For his films, he always writes the scripts himself. All of his films are distinguished by rather original constructions of conflicts. In the early 2000s, Derek was involved in music videos, both as a director and cameraman. Among them are sketches about Sean Combs and Run DMC. In 2010 he removes "Valentine", which immediately makes his name popular with the audience. The film stars Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling. He invites the latter to his next film, a drama called "The Place Beyond the Pines" (2013). "Valentine" was presented by the director at the Cannes Film Festival.
