Studied at the Saratov Theater School named after I. A. Slonov (1967-1969, workshop of N. D. Shlyapnikova and Yu. M. Sagyants). Graduated from the Sverdlovsk Theater Institute (1972, workshop of V.K. Kozlov). Since 1972 - the actor of the Chelyabinsk Drama Theater named after S. Zwilling, since 1976 - the Moscow Drama Theater named after Vl. Mayakovsky. After 1980 - an actor in a number of Moscow theaters. Since 1989 - organizer and artistic director of the Mikhail Chekhov International Center. In cinema since 1977.
