British new wave group formed in April 1977 and disbanded in May 1993. The group achieved significant success in the mid-1980s; many of their songs have become hits in the UK, USA and other countries around the world. The title is taken from the popular comic "The Adventures of Tintin" (detectives Thomson and Thompson). The Thompson Twins performed as a trio between 1982 and 1986, but later the number of members reached seven. In 1985 the group took part in the Live Aid international charity event.
