Vasily Simchich is from Western Ukraine. He was born in the Ivano-Frankivsk region in the village of Sredny Berezov on January 8, 1915. From 1926 to 1935 he was a student of the Kolomyia gymnasium. After graduation, he entered the Ukrainian Young Theater "Zagrava", where at first he was a simple theater worker, and later he played on stage. Here he made his debut in the play "Ants", where V. Simchich played a komornik. Then there was training at a higher trading school (1937-1939) and work as a teacher in his native village (1939-1941). December 28, 1941 V. Simchich gets a job at the Kharkov Drama Theater. And on September 20, 1944, the actor returns to his native land and comes to the Kolomyia theater. Soon he became a leading actor, later - a director, and then leads the work of this theater. Theatergoers remember him well as Panas in the play "Naymychka" (1946). In 1947, the actor had to endure an arrest. He was accused of cooperation with the UPA. V. Simchich returned from prison sick, but not broken. Since 1953, he has been working in the theater as a director and staging "Gypsy Aza", "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors", "One Hundred Thousand" and other performances.
Back in 1941, V. Simchich was invited to the cinema, to act in the film of Olex Dovbush, but the shooting was interrupted by the war. Therefore, his debut in cinema took place only in 1956, when the actor was first seen in the film Ivan Franko. The best films with Vasily Simchich were released at different times. They were the White Bird with a Black Mark (1970), The Flood (1974), Tabor Goes to Heaven (1976) and others. In the motion picture Zakhar Berkut (1971), the actor played the title role. "Handsome, tall, slender, with the head of a biblical prophet and the eyes of a sage" - this is how his friend I. Gavrilyuk characterized V. Simchich's appearance. V. Simchich was remembered by the audience for his characteristic appearance and solid character, which are clearly visible in all the images created by the actor in the cinema.
