Valentin Ivanovich Zubkov was born on May 12, 1923 in the village of Peschaniy. From 1941 to 1943 he studied at the Armavir Aviation School. He took part directly in the Second World War - he was a pilot.
Valentin Zubkov had no acting or cinematographic education, he came to the cinema self-taught. At first, he received only cameo roles. His first paintings are the Russian Question and Gemini. But even in the background, he managed to prove himself at his best. The combination of talent and good looks provided the actor with proposals from directors.
Zubkov spent the 40s in cooperation with the amateur studio of Konstantin Voinov. The main roles of Valentin Zubkov in the cinema take their count from 1955, then he starred in the film It began like this. In 1960 he began performing on the stage of the Film Actor Theater.
In 1957, he played two minor, but very striking roles. We are talking about the paintings The Communist and The Cranes Are Flying. After that, Zubkov re-establishes contact with his old acquaintance Voinov. Thanks to this, Valentin participates in several more good films, the brightest of which was Troy came out of the forest.
Fame had a detrimental effect on the actor, as a result he began to drink a lot. He coped with the disease, but he could not return to the former heights: films with Valentin Zubkov appeared less and less on the screen, and the directors offered him only minor episodic roles.
In 1969 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In 1977, a grief happened in the Zubkov family - their only son died, he drowned in the river. After such a blow, the actor could not recover, his health was seriously undermined - doctors diagnosed deep sclerosis. Zubkov died on January 18, 1979.
