Kivren studied cinematography and broadcasting at the Hector Berlioz College in Vincennes, an eastern suburb of Paris. Then he entered the University of Nanterre University (a graduate of which, by the way, is the current French President Nicolas Sarkozy) and received a bachelor's degree in literature, while studying cinema.
