Mirchoff was born in Seattle, Washington. Two days after his birth, the family moved to Victoria on Vancouver Island in Canada. His father, Bill, who was born in California, is an orthopedist, and his mother, Kelly, is from Seattle, is a housewife. Mirchoff has an older brother, Luke (born 1985), a semi-professional in lacrosse, and a younger sister, Rihanna (born 1992). He is a graduate of Mount Douglas Secondary School. Mirchoff has dual citizenship of the United States and Canada.
Mirchoff's acting career began with Bubbly Stiltskin, and in 2006 he appeared in Scary Movie 4. In 2009, he starred in the horror film The Curse 3. In the same year, Mirchoff joined the cast of Desperate Housewives, playing the role of Danny Bohlen, and in 2011 he landed the lead role in the series Awkward and appeared in the movie I Am Number Four. In 2013, Mirchoff starred in the television movie Return of the Wizards: Alex vs. Alex and in the independent film The Secret Life of Roughs. In 2014, Mirchoff starred in the movie Night of Poker. In 2017, he played the role of Brad in the film Flatulent.
