He has an older brother, two younger brothers and a younger sister. One of his younger brothers, Benjamin Mitchell, is a professional tennis player and is one of the top 250 best tennis players in the world.
Mitchell is best known for his role in the Australian soap opera Home and Away, where he filmed regularly from 2009 to 2013. In 2010, he received the Logie Television Award for Most Popular New Actor. He made his debut in the soap opera Neighbors in 2008 and then starred in the teenage series H2O: Just Add Water .
In 2013, Mitchell moved to the United States, where he co-starred in The CW's Future People for the 2013-14 TV season. Following its closure, he landed a regular role in ABC's primetime soap opera, Members Only. The show was closed by the channel prior to airing.
