Ariadna Vsevolodovna made her film debut in 1957 as Irina in the feature film Ekaterina Voronina. While still studying at the Institute of Cinematography, Shengelaya starred in two films: in Eugene Onegin (Tatyana Larina) and in Eugenia Grande (Eugene).
In the late 1950s - early 1960s, she was one of the most popular actresses in Soviet cinema.
