Born 1977 in Kuching, Malaysia. After graduating from St. Thomas High School in Kuching, he moved with his family to Melbourne, Australia. There he entered film school and met Lee Wennell. As a credit, they wrote the script for the film Saw and shot a short film based on Saw. Their leader was so impressed with what he saw that he sent him to Hollywood. I sent it and forgot it. A few months later, a letter arrived stating that Vana and Wennell were being invited to direct a film based on their script.
