Daniel Davis (born Daniel Davis ^; born November 26, 1945) is an American film and theater actor. Best known for his role as Niles in the sitcom "The Nanny".

Davis was born in Gurdon, Arkansas. His first acting job was at the age of 11 when he was cast on the local Little Rock broadcaster on a program called Betty Little Rascals. Davis graduated from Little Rock High School in 1963. Studied at the Arkansas Center for the Arts and then worked with the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Stratford Shakespeare Festival, and six years at the American Conservatory of Theater ^; during his time at ACT, he taught acting.

Davis first became popular on daytime television, playing opposite Baverly McKinsey as the former (and presumed deceased) husband of his Iris Corey character, Elliot Carrington, in a Texas soap opera spin-off from another world from October 1980 to December 1981.

In 1985, he played the traitor soldier in Season 4 of the A-Team television series.

Davis's real accent is South American, but his accent as Niles of Nanny was so believable and accurate that many viewers still consider Davis an Englishman to this day. He also uses an English accent for Moriarty's roles in Star Trek: The Next Generation, in the episode "Elementary, Dear Data" and "Ship in a bottle." However, in the 90s film The Hunt for Red October as the commander of an aircraft carrier Davenport's USS Enterprise, he spoke in his English accent.Daniel also used his British accent to voice Longhair in Longhair and Doubledome.

Davis was among the lip-synching celebrity group in The Bee Gees, Idol in Stay Alive, returning in an episode of American Idol on April 25, 2007.

Davis is an acclaimed theater actor. He plays in both Broadway productions and beyond, notably at the Guthrie Theater, Minneapolis, Minnesota and others.
