David Strathairn is an American actor and producer best known for his roles in such films as Temple Grandin, Dolores Claiborne, The Bourne Ultimatum.
David Russell Strathairn was born on January 26, 1949 in San Francisco, California, in the family of nurse Mary Francis and physician Thomas Scott Strathairn. David also has siblings - Tom and Anne. Strathairn is of English, Scottish, Irish, Portuguese, Hawaiian, and Chinese ancestry. After receiving his secondary education, David studied at Williams College in Massachusetts, where he first became interested in theater, made friends with the future famous screenwriter and director John Sales, and graduated in 1970. Then he went to Florida to visit his grandfather, but his grandfather passed away while David was still on the road. Finding himself in a strange city without any acquaintances, Strathairn entered the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, and then worked as a clown for six months in a traveling circus.
Later, David hitchhiked across the country and in New York again met his old friend Sales, who offered him a role in his debut film The Return of Seacocus 7.
