The birth of Lars von Trier, a scandalous and outrageous director of our time, is dated April 30, 1956. Lars added the prefix "von" to his last name on his own, believing that this way his name would sound more aristocratic.

Love and passion for cinema began after filming a short cartoon. An interesting fact is that he created this at the age of 11, and the timing of the tape was only 1 minute. A year after that, he starred in The Last Summer, where he wanted to learn more about the technical side of the process. Later, Lars von Trier began filming short films, which later became the reason for enrolling him in film school, where he spent several years of study.

After completing his studies in 1984, his film, Element of Crime, premiered. This tape became the first full-length film in his career. The following films, with Lars von Trier as director and screenwriter, created the E trilogy. They got this name because of the first letter in the name of the paintings. He became a frequent guest at film festivals, including the famous Cannes, where he received several awards.

The next step on the road to success was the development of a manifesto in conjunction with Thomas Winterberg. It was called "Dogma 95" and included several rules for filming films with maximum truthfulness and without the use of special decorations. Several of his films were filmed in a similar way, but the film The Idiots was the pioneer in 1998.

Dancing in the Dark in 2000 won the Cannes Palme d'Or as best film. The rest of Lars's work divided critics into two camps: some believed that the films created were masterpieces, others thought the opposite.

The last film with Lars von Trier as director is called Nymphomaniac and is a two-part explicit film about the adventures and sexual experience of the main character. In theaters, cut versions were shown for two hours each, as opposed to the extended version, which was five and a half hours long.

Lars von Trier has green eyes, naturally dark hair color, fair skin and middle lips. The shape of the face is oval, the forehead is medium, the hair is straight, hard. Lars von Trier does not change his hair color, giving preference to natural. The director has a medium wide nose and a rounded chin. Lars von Trier sometimes wears glasses, drops his mustache and beard. The director's height is 170 cm, he has tattoos.
