She was born on February 8, February 1976 in Baku, grew up in Yerevan, at the age of 17 she moved to Moscow.
Melikyan, a graduate of VGIK and a student of Sergei Solovyov, became famous for the short films "On Demand", "Contrabass", "Andante" and "We flew" .
In 1999, as a term paper, the film "We flew" was shot with Nelly Uvarova in the title role. Filmed in 2000, the short film "On Demand" was bought by the cinema museums of Rome and Melbourne.
The first feature film was Mars, which premiered at the 2004 Berlin Film Festival. The second full-length film "Mermaid" was nominated for an Oscar from Russia in 2008
The American magazine Variety has included Melikyan in the top ten most promising directors in the world.
Anna founded the Magnum Film Company, which produces films and TV series, as well as sourcing and producing new talent.
