Born May 29, 1948.
One film encyclopedia considers him a Canadian actor, another claims that he was born in Mammola (Calabria, Italy). In the year of birth, they also diverge. Therefore, we will assume that he and his parents emigrated to Canada, where he grew up in the Italian diaspora. He is the eldest of five children; his family has two more brothers and two sisters. One day the teacher gave him Julius Caesar to read. At that time, Nick knew nothing about the theater and never saw a single performance. But at the audition for the school production of Hamlet, he was so convincing that he got the title role.
Nick studied psychology at the University of Toronto. Later he moved to the same specialty at Guelph University. And upon graduation, he seriously engaged in research, no longer intending to play on stage. But in 1970 he gave up and went to audition for the Experimental Theater. Later he organized his own troupe "Teatru Streetcarru", which gave performances for the Italian community. These were mainly classic Shakespearean plays, a role in one of which (Bassanio in The Merchant of Venice) brought him to the 1976 Stratford Festival. After which he was there six more times.
Since 1970, his film career began with a small role in the film "Doctor Scorpio". Now Nick is a Genius Prize winner, twice named Best Actor (at the Taormina Film Festival, Italy, and the Houston International Film Festival), author of many plays, and is fond of poetry. Several of his poems, set to music, became famous even in Europe. Nick speaks four languages, is engaged in painting, mainly in oil, has written a book about how a young emigrant can survive in a foreign country.
