Born November 30, 1986 American actor. He appeared in Forbidden Kingdom with Jet Li, and in Twelve with Chase Crawford in the title role. He played Jesse Richter in the 2011 film Prom. He is also set to play the young Johnny Depp in the upcoming Tim Burton feature film adaptation of Dark Shadows. He is the lead singer and guitarist for the Luna band.
McDonell was raised in Manhattan, New York and attended a boarding school in Andover, Massachusetts. He graduated from New York University. His mother, Joan is a writer, and his father, Terry McDonnell, is the editor of Sports Illustrated Group's Sports Illustrated. His brother is the author Nick McDonell.
