Born September 12, 1956 - died April 1, 2003 - Hong Kong actor and singer. Considered "one of the founding fathers of Cantopop," who successfully combined acting and music careers.
In 2000, Leslie Chung was named “Asia's Greatest Superstar” by China Central Television, and in 2005 was voted the Most Favorite Actor in 100 Years of Chinese Cinema by audience vote. Later, the CNN channel included him in the "five musical icons of all time", placing it after Michael Jackson and The Beatles.
Committed suicide by jumping out of the 24th floor window of the Mandarin Oriental on April 1, 2003.
