Jay was born and raised in Texas. After graduation, he studied for one semester at the University of Cincinnati. After he dropped out, Jay moved to California to try his luck at finding work as an actor.
In Los Angeles, he decided to devote himself to his second passion - music. At the age of 20, he first picked up a guitar and began writing songs without going through any training or using anyone's help. The source of inspiration for the aspiring singer-songwriter was the songs of the "single singers" from his music collection. After two years in California, Jay moved to New York, where he still lives.
