In January 1972, then in West Berlin, the future actor Benno Furmann was born. He lost both parents early and was brought up by guardians. At the age of 17, he received a serious head injury when he fell off the step of a train.
Having received his high school diploma, Fuermann goes to work. First - a waiter in a restaurant, then - a bouncer. When the guy was 19 years old, in 1991 he went to New York to master the acting craft at the famous Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. A year later he returned to Germany, where his film career began.
Furmann's first role was in 1992 in the television movie Schuld war nur der Bossa Nova. In 1999 he received the German Television Prize for the lead role in The Story of Bubi Scholz, and in 2000 he won the Bavarian Film Prize in the category Best Actor for Friends. In the same year, the main roles of Benno Fuermann were replenished with works in the films Anatomy and The Princess and the Warrior, which brought the actor more popularity not only in his homeland.
In 2003 he participates in the Hollywood project Sin Eater, where he plays with Heath Ledger. In the same year, the German film with Benno Fuermann Wolfsburg received an award at the Berlin Film Festival. In 2006 and 2007 he received the Jupiter Prize in the category of Best German Television Actor for his work in the films Merry Christmas and Flurry.
In total, the actor has already played in more than 80 film and television projects. In addition to his native German, he also speaks Turkish and English. Fuermann is involved in social activities, participates in organizations to fight AIDS, extreme poverty and related diseases.
Lives in Berlin with his common-law wife, with whom their daughter Zoe is raising.
