Lauren Elizabeth "Laurie" Metcalf ^ (born June 16, 1955) is an American actress, winner of the Emmy and Tony awards. She is best known for her role as Jackie Harris on Roseanne and for voicing Mrs. Davis in Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3. She plays at the Chicago Theater, where she is known for her role in the 1983 production of Balm at Gaalada. He is a member of the Plan USA charity, which helps children in need. She is a three-time Emmy winner, twice a nominee for the Golden Globe.
Metcalfe was born in Carbondale, Illinois. She was the eldest of three sisters. Laurie studied in Edwardsville, Illinois. Her father was the budget director of the University of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, her mother worked as a librarian. Her great-aunt was the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Zoe Akins. Metcalfe was courted by Steppenwolf Company actor Terry Kinney, but she married actor Jeff Perry. In 1984, they had a daughter, Zoe. They subsequently divorced. In 1993, Metcalfe married actor Matt Roth, who was her co-star on the TV series Roseanne. The couple had two children: Will Theron Roth (born November 20, 1993) and Mae Akins (born July 3, 2005 through surrogacy).
In 2005, the Metcalfe family moved to a ranch in Idaho. In April, the Metcalf-Roth couple adopted a boy ^ [3 ^]. Both spouses played together in an episode of Desperate Housewives.
