Clifton Collins Jr. - biography, date of birth, place of birth, filmography, clips, actor, producer, director.
A chameleon actor who easily loses his true identity among his many film and television characters, Clifton Collins Jr., a native of Los Angeles, grew up with a dream to become a show business star. Among his maternal great-grandfathers, one was a Mexican trumpet player, the other a Spanish dancer who organized a traveling family troupe. Collins's grandfather is the famous actor Pedro Gonzalez-Gonzalez, who became famous in the 50s and 60s for his comic roles in John Wayne's westerns. Clifton's uncle and aunt are also involved in show business. While the "star grandfather" of the actor got exclusively stereotypical roles of "true" Hispanics, Collins Jr. was able to destroy all racial barriers, presenting his characters in a variety of roles. He played everyone from cops and boxers to serial killers, revealing different sides of human nature. Collins was born on June 16, 1970 in Los Angeles and began his career in 1988 under his real name. However, two years later, he began to call himself nothing less than Clifton Gonzalez-Gonzalez in honor of his elderly grandfather and in tribute to his former glory. Pedro, who died in 2006, lived long enough to see his grandson triumph. Having started out with typical "Latino" roles in the first phase of his career, Collins suddenly realized that he was stuck in the minor characters of office clerks and street thugs. He began to try to overcome this "racial barrier", looking for more varied roles. In the mid-90s, the situation got off the ground - first there were filming in the futuristic film "Fortress" ("Fortress", 1993) and the crazy rock and roll comedy about the 70s "The Stoned Age" 1994). The successful role of Cesar - a reckless student in "One Eight Seven" (1997) with the participation of Los Angeles mentor - Samuel L. Jackson, put Collins on the right track. This was followed by many of the most diverse, as negative, and positive roles in films such as "The Replacement Killers" (1998), "The Wonderful Ice Cream Suit" (1998), "Tigerland" (2000) ... The versatility of the actor was finally confirmed after the roles of a gay Mexican hitman in "Traffic" ("Traffic", 2000) and an FBI psychoanalyst in the action "Mindhunters" ("Mindhunters", 2004) .
On television, Collins Jr. has appeared in the series "NYPD Blue" (1993) and "The Twilight Zone" (2002), and also starred in the detective story "Alias" (2001).
