Michael Barrett Watson was born in Traverse City, Michigan at the age of eight, his family moved to Dallas, Texas, where he began his modeling career. In 1990, he landed a role in the daytime soap opera Days of Our Lives, and in the following years began to study acting, occasionally making cameo appearances in episodes such as The Nanny and Rescuers Malibu.
Watson is best known for his role as Matthew Camden, the eldest son of the characters Catherine Hicks and Stephen Collins, in The WB's long-running series Seventh Heaven, where he filmed from 1996-2002, and then returned to the show in 2003-2005. In the wake of the show's success, Watson starred in several teen films: Kill Mrs. Tingle (1999), Ladies' Dorm Boys (2002) and Boogeyman. In May 2002, he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, after which he left the series on a regular basis, and returned to it a year later.
Watson starred on ABC's What About Brian from 2006-2007, the show canceled after two seasons. Next, he starred in the sitcom Who Is Samantha ?, opposite Christina Applegate, also closed by ABC after two seasons due to low ratings. In 2012, he appeared in the final season of The CW's "Gossip Girl."
Watson has been married twice and has two children from his second marriage to designer Tracy Hutson. Since 2011, he has been in a relationship with Natalie Wood's daughter, Natasha Gregson Wagner, they have a daughter who was born in June 2012.
